Gene Fashaw is a dedicated math teacher at High Point Academy in Aurora, Colorado his classroom is dedicated to transforming mindsets in mathematics. In doing so he can grow and develop critical thinkers and problem solvers of tomorrow. He is a proud DPS alum and Denver resident, and recently ran for a DPS Board of Education seat. He is currently a PEBC Lab Host and EdSurge Voices of Change Writing Fellow. His experience in politics, policy, strategy, equity, justice, and instruction has come from teacher leadership, advocacy efforts in Denver and participation with Moonshot EdVentures, various Teach Plus programs, and Generation Teach. He also serves as the head basketball coach, emphasizing the development of the whole child while maintaining high expectations.
A loving husband and father of two, Gene balances his professional responsibilities with his devotion to his family, making a lasting impact on both his students and the broader community.
